Trails & Parks
The Chilliwack area has over 40 trails ranging from easy riverside walks to challenging mountain ascents. Lindeman Lake is a local favourite — a 3.6 km trail with 300 m of elevation gain that opens up to one of the most striking alpine lakes in BC.
Mount Thom Park offers a loop through shaded forest with lookouts over the valley and Cultus Lake. The Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve, a 325-acre floodplain preserve, has five gentle trails and a tall observation tower — ideal for birding and quiet morning walks.
Chilliwack Lake Provincial Park sits at the end of the valley with 40 km of trails through old-growth forest, mountain views, and glacier-fed water.
Rivers & Lakes
The Fraser Valley is one of BC's top fishing regions. The Vedder River (Chilliwack River) runs minutes from the park and draws anglers year-round for salmon, steelhead, and trout. The Rotary Trail provides easy walk-in access to productive stretches of the river.
Chilliwack Lake is ideal for a quieter day on the water — motorboating, canoeing, and fishing for rainbow trout, cutthroat, and Dolly Varden. The Fraser River itself is a short drive away with sturgeon fishing charters available seasonally.
Downtown Chilliwack
Downtown Chilliwack is a 15-minute drive and has grown into a genuine food destination. The Chilliwack Farmers' Market runs seasonally with local produce, baked goods, and artisan vendors.
The dining scene ranges from farm-to-table restaurants to craft breweries. Bozzini's, Bravo Restaurant, and the growing strip of independent eateries on Yale Road give you plenty of options for a night out without the long drive to Vancouver.
For groceries and supplies, big-box stores and specialty shops are all within the same 15-minute radius.
Day Trips
Cultus Lake is a 20-minute drive and one of the Fraser Valley's most popular summer destinations. The lake offers swimming, paddleboarding, kayaking, and boating, with a marina renting speedboats, pontoons, and jet skis. Families will find the Cultus Lake Waterpark — BC's largest — and the Adventure Park with 18 rides and mini golf.
The surrounding Cultus Lake Provincial Park has excellent camping and the Teapot Hill trail, a moderate hike with views over the lake.
Harrison Hot Springs is about 45 minutes north. The public mineral pool sits at a soothing 38°C, and the Harrison Hot Springs Resort offers dining, spa services, and lake access. Jet boat tours, kayaking, and wildlife tours run along the Harrison and Fraser Rivers.
